Meet The Hen Next Door

Hi, I’m Angie, and in this corner of the internet you can call me The Hen Next Door.

I’m a wife, a mom of two, and someone who finds so much joy in creating a home filled with warmth, memories, and a little bit of beautiful chaos. Life looks a little different in each season, and right now ours is a mix of growing up and holding on.

Our son is serving in the military and is building a beautiful life of his own with his wife and their two babies. I’ve stepped into one of my most cherished roles: grandma. Back at home, we’re raising our preteen daughter and soaking in these in-between years that somehow feel both slow and fleeting all at once.

Our family wouldn’t be complete without Bruin, our husky, and a shared love of hockey that runs deep around here.

A few years ago, I started a little passion project that’s grown into something I truly love, my IKEA Milsbo greenhouse, The Leaf Loft. It’s home to over 14 varieties of hoyas… or as I like to call them, my “tenants.” It’s my quiet space, my creative outlet, and a constant reminder that growth takes time.

I’ve always been drawn to the kind of moments that bring people together: hosting gatherings, decorating spaces to feel special, planning parties, cooking for the people I love, capturing memories through photography, and traveling whenever we can. If it creates connection or tells a story, I’m all in.

A little over a year ago, I began my sourdough journey, and I’m still learning its rhythm. My starter, Sookie (yes, from Gilmore Girls), has become part of the family.

And when the day winds down, you’ll usually find me curled up with a show or movie, getting far too invested in the characters and their stories.

This space is where I share all of it: the things I love, what I’m learning, and the everyday moments that make up this life. Nothing perfect, just real life from the hen next door.
